How To Use Make Up Brushes And How To Wash Them?

Perfect tool selection for perfect craft making is very necessary. If a professional carpenter is not having an axe or hammer or wood cutter he cannot make even a finished wooden chair. But if a beginner is having these tools he can at least design a thing to sit.

In the same manner choosing correct make up brushes to apply cosmetics is compulsory. Whether you are a professional make up artist or just a learner, you should be needed the basic tools to give the model a natural or glamorous look.

But another important thing is to keep your brushes clean and hygienic. Because if you let the brushes be unclean and dirty after using them, their hairs will be broken and also the germs will reside into the scalp of your brush happily.

1.) Brushes For Your Face:

The most important thing for best make up look is to establish a natural base over the surface. If your base or foundation is not evenly smudged on your skin it looks like you drab your face into the foundation and you look funny instead of looking gorgeous.

So here are some guidelines to use correct tools for founding a natural looking base on your face.

#01 Round Kabuki Brush: It is used to apply mineral powder in a circular motion to buff the powder completely into your skin.

#02 Kabuki Brush: It can be used to apply powder foundation or base onto your face.

#03 Large Powder Brush: This large, fluffy brush is ideal for sweeping on powder over top of foundation.

#04 Medium Powder Brush: This medium-sized brush is used for applying loose powder to settle down your liquid foundation.

#05 Large Blush Brush: This large brush is used for applying blush on the apples of your cheeks.

#06 Medium Blush Brush: This one can be used for applying blush near your ears and to blend it well.

#07 Face Powder Brush: It is used to apply loose or pressed powder to face or body.

#31 Foundation Brush: It is for applying foundation. It is perfectly shaped for an even all over coverage.

#32 Large Angled Brush: Used for subtle cheek application. Use the angle to softly contour the cheek bones.

#33 Contouring Brush: It is used for the contouring of all over the face evenly.

#40 Big Fan Brush: This brush has several uses. It can be used to blend, clean up excess powder and highlight cheek bones.

#41 Medium Fan Brush: It gently dusts off eye shadow that falls on your face. It also clean up excess powder.

# Blending Sponge: Although this isn't a brush, a blending sponge is a great tool to use with liquid foundations. It gives your face a flawless, smooth finish.

2.) Brushes For Eyes:

It is said that if your lips are silent your eyes will say all the story. To make this statement true it’s necessary to have stunning eyes and perfect eye makeup. To apply eye paints perfectly you should know the correct use of eye brushes.

#08 Large Shadow Brush: For applying base eye shadow or all over color.

#09 Primary Eye Shadow: It is useful to apply primer to the eye lid.

#10 Angled Eye Brush: For applying eye shadow in the crease and above. Usually it is used to apply darker colors of powder.

#13 Highlighter Brush: For applying powder highlighter or shimmer evenly.

#16 Tapered Blending: It is designed to apply and blend color on the crease.

3.) Brushes For Lips:

Usually we apply the lipsticks or lip stains directly on our lips. But professionals always use the perfect tool for this purpose. A lip color applied with the brush will look neater and more finished than the direct applied lipstick. So here are few brushes used for application of lip color.

#25 Large Lipstick Brush: It is used to fill up the fluffy lips with fantasy colors.

#26 Small Lipstick Brush: It is used to apply lipstick or lip gloss coat to your lips.

Cleaning Your Brushes Up!

It is the most necessary and unfortunately most neglected, to rinse and clean up your make up brushes after some time of use. Since the make up brushes are very soft and gentle so we cannot wash them simply as we do with our tooth brushes.

Here is an easy method to clean and wash your make up brushes.

  1. Take a small dish and mix equal parts of olive oil and any dish washing liquid soap together on the plate.
  2. Swish and rub soft handedly your dirty brush around in the mixture for at least one minute.
  3. Rinse brush with luke warm water and then run under normal water.
  4. Lay the brush flat on a paper towel and let it dry overnight.
  5. Never leave the washed brush under the sun.
